Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days sale runs on 6 and 7 October, and most of the deals need an Amazon Prime membership. I went through the UK listings and picked ten that are useful for a family home and are properly discounted. Every price below is the price shown on Amazon UK on 6 October 2026, next to Amazon’s own list price. Deals sell out and prices move during a sale, so check the page before you buy.
How I picked these
Each product had to be a mainstream brand, be useful in a family household, and be at least 15% below Amazon’s own listed price when I checked. I have not tested any of them for this article, so what follows is based on the product listings and what the products are designed to do, not on hands-on use.
1. Echo Dot (newest generation)
£29.99 on 6 October, against Amazon’s list price of £79.99.
A small Alexa speaker for a kitchen, hallway or kids’ room, and at this price it is an easy first smart home device. Use it for timers, music, weather and controlling smart plugs and lights. It needs an Amazon account, and the microphone can be muted with the button on top if you want it off. If you already have Echo devices, check the Alexa+ early access terms on the listing before you set it up.
2. Fire TV Stick 4K Plus
£34.99 on 6 October, against Amazon’s list price of £79.99.
The cheapest way to bring an older TV up to date. It supports 4K, Wi-Fi 6, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and HDR10+, so check that your TV actually handles 4K before paying for it. It plugs into an HDMI port and comes with an Alexa voice remote. This is the Plus model, not the cheaper basic stick.
3. Kindle 16 GB (2024)
£94.99 on 6 October, against Amazon’s list price of £149.99.
The standard Kindle in black, with 16 GB of storage and no lock screen ads. It is light and compact, with quick page turns and a high contrast screen. If you read in bed or on the school run, it is far easier on the eyes than a phone. It is the basic model, so look at the Paperwhite if you want a waterproof one.
4. Blink Mini 2K+ (2 pack)
£29.99 on 6 October, against Amazon’s list price of £69.99.
Two small plug-in cameras for indoors, with 2K video, colour night vision and a built-in spotlight. Live view works without paying anything, but saving and replaying clips needs a Blink subscription plan, which is sold separately. If you put a camera anywhere in the house, tell everyone who lives there and keep it out of bedrooms and bathrooms.
5. Nintendo Switch 2
£354.99 on 6 October, against Amazon’s list price of £419.99.
Nintendo rarely discounts its consoles, so a Switch 2 under its listed price is worth knowing about. This is the console on its own, so budget for games, and for a second pair of controllers if you want two-player. It is a limited time deal and may not last the full sale.
6. Ninja Foodi 6-in-1 Dual Zone Air Fryer (7.6 L, AF300UK)
£123.49 on 6 October, against Amazon’s list price of £199.99.
Two separate drawers mean you can cook the main and the side at the same time, which is the real reason a dual zone air fryer earns its counter space in a family kitchen. It has six cooking functions and a 7.6 litre total capacity. Check the width against your worktop before you order, because it is not small.
7. Shark Stratos Cordless Stick Vacuum (IZ420UKT)
£279.97 on 6 October, against Amazon’s list price of £499.99.
A cordless vacuum at nearly half its listed price. Shark advertises anti hair wrap technology and a long battery life, which is what matters with kids, pets and long hair in the house. The usual stick vacuum trade-off applies: a smaller bin than a corded machine, so expect to empty it often.
8. Apple Watch Series 11 (GPS, 42 mm)
£259 on 6 October, against Amazon’s list price of £319.
The 42 mm GPS model in space grey with a black sport band. It tracks sleep and fitness and works with an iPhone, so it is no use if you use Android. This one is GPS only, not cellular, which means it needs your phone nearby for calls and messages. Be aware that other cases and band sizes carry different prices, so check the exact version you want.
9. Sony ULT WEAR noise cancelling headphones
£94 on 6 October, against Amazon’s list price of £129.
Over-ear wireless headphones with active noise cancelling, a bass boost mode for people who like their music heavy, and a listed battery life of up to 30 hours. They use the same processor as Sony’s flagship WH-1000XM5 headphones, according to the listing, at a much lower price. Good for the commute, flights and getting through a school holiday car journey.
10. Oura Ring 4 (Silver, size 9)
£199 on 6 October, against Amazon’s list price of £349.
A smart ring that tracks sleep, activity and heart rate without a screen. The listing is for size 9 only, and the wrong size is the most common reason people send these back, so order a sizing kit from Oura first if you are not sure. Oura also charges a monthly membership for the full app, so check the current price before you buy.
Before you buy
Deals like these are designed to make you buy quickly. Decide what you actually need first, check you have the right model, and remember that Amazon’s list price is not always what the item sold for in the weeks before. Some of these, including the Oura Ring and the Apple Watch, are only worth it if you are happy with the ongoing costs and the ecosystem they belong to.
